Vinesa Walker

Managing Director
As co-owner and with over 10 years of experience across the whole of A1’s business operation, Vinesa is the driver behind the business management and administration teams.

Vinesa is dedicated to the strength and growth of the business and in doing so is motivated to continue providing the best training and development opportunities for the A1 team.

She is also an active voice for women in the civil construction industry, encouraging more women to join the profession.

Vinesa actively mentors’ women in the industry and participates in the Civil Contractors Federation Steering committee for women in civil.

Chris Pilley

General Manager
Co-owner Chris heads up our team at A1 Earthworx. He has worked for A1 Earthworx since 2002. Prior to this, Chris completed his Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Apprenticeship at a local firm, gaining hands on experience with the internal workings of heavy equipment.  Since commencing with the business, Chris has gained experience from the ground up, working his way from machine operating, quoting and resourcing, minor and major project supervision, to overall business management.

Chris has a strong passion for the business growth and long term success, leaning on his years’ experience in the industry to develop business and projects.  Under Chris’ stewardship, the business has invested heavily in obtaining efficient late model plant, systems development and personnel training.

Chris’s other attainments include Certificate IV – Supervision, OHS Consultation Training and Strategic Execution Master Class training.

Steve Bannink

Maintenance Manager
Steven has been with A1 Earthworx since 2013 and manages the maintenance and servicing of our entire fleet of machines and vehicles which total in the vicinity of 100 items.

Steven completed his trade certificate in Heavy Diesel Mechanic in 1991 and since then has worked in the industry within this role.

Steven’s other attainments are Supervisor responsibilities and obligations training, fluid power and hydraulics training, hydrocarbon spill response, Pulse computer training, Underground work alone.

Ian James

Safety and Compliance Manager
Ian has been with A1 Earthworx since 2011 looking after our Safety and Compliance.  When Ian started with A1, he had safety and fleet experience and also had obtained the qualifications, B.Bus – Marketing and Information Systems, Cert IV Training and Assessment, Supervision Training and Cert III Financial Services, Working at Heights and Confined Spaces.

Fiona Hill

Administration Manager
Fiona has been in administration roles for the past 35 years, 4 of which have been with A1 Earthworx. Fiona possess excellent written and verbal communication, time management and organisational skills. Fiona’s formal training was in secretarial and bookkeeping and during her career, she has achieved on the job training with civil contracts, tendering processes and submissions, project costings and accountability, accounts receivable, payables and payroll.

Nick Stewart

Senior Operations Manager
Nick joined the team at A1 as Senior Operations Manager in May 2020. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in civil construction, particularly earthworks, road construction and drainage. Having spent 21 years in local Government and working closely with RMS, he has extensive experience in project delivery, traffic management, stabilized pavements and bitumen sealing.

Nick manages the daily operational needs of the business including resource planning, staff management, logistics and utilization.
