The Scope

The project scope, undertaken by Hamcon Civil Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maas Group Holdingsinvolved the construction of one of Orange’s largest roundabouts and the realignment of the northern end of Hill St to join the southern leg of the roundabout.

Key elements of the scope included:

  • Construction of roadway embankments.
  • Earthworks, including excavation of cuttings and placing of general fill.
  • Construction of a controlled subgrade layer.
  • Construction of granular road pavement, bitumen sealing, and asphalt road pavement and wearing course.
  • Construction of concrete elements, such as traffic islands, kerb and gutter, dish drains, footpaths, and driveways.
  • Installation of stormwater drainage infrastructure.
  • Installation of subsoil drainage.
  • Installation of new street lighting and removal of redundant street lighting infrastructure.
  • Relocation of the existing stone column, wingwalls, and entry gate for the Botanic Gardens carpark.
  • Clearing and grubbing, demolition, and removal of existing structures.
  • Removal of existing topsoil and stockpiling for revegetation.
  • Establishment of traffic control devices and management of traffic.
  • Establishment of a tree protection zone.
  • Co-ordination of works with other contractors, including utility authorities.
  • Removal and re-installation of guardrail as required.
